2009 Home Renovation Tax Credit (HRTC)

The 2009 Federal Budget (passed Feb. 03, 2009) provides a Temporary Homeowner Tax Credit up to $1350 on Eligible Home Renovation Materials and Services purchased after January 27, 2009 and before February 1, 2010.

HRTC Overview:
  • Temporary 15 percent Personal Income Tax Credit for 2009 Taxation Year.

  • Purchases after January 27, 2009 and before February 1, 2010.

  • Eligible expenses minimum $1000, maximum $10,000.

  • Specific Eligibility Requirements apply.

  • Maximum Tax Credit: $1350 (i.e. 15% of $9000).

  • Home Renovation Expenditures include "Materials" and "Labour."

  • Federal "ecoAction" Program and "Medical Expense Tax Credit" Friendly.
